Regular Meetings
Generally, classes begin at 7:00 p.m. on the first, second, and third Mondays of each month (Please see Calendar for details and exceptions.) Classes are scheduled to end at 9:00 p.m.
Business meetings are held each fourth Monday evening.
Should a month contain a fifth Monday, MRAL members gather for a potluck dinner at 6:30 p.m.
Background And Mission
The presence of a vibrant artistic community within a city is best testimony to the quality of that city's intellectual life. Founded by a local group of artist and chartered in 1966, the Murfreesboro Rutherford Art League (MRAL) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to advance art education and appreciation and thus ensure a vibrant artistic environment in the Murfreesboro and Rutherford County community.
MRAL fulfills its mission by:
1. providing art education and activities for adults and children through affordable classes and other community activities
2. providing the community with opportunities to view, enjoy, and purchase works by local artists
3 providing professional and amateur artist a meeting place to work together and exchange ideas
4. providing amateur artist an opportunity to learn from professional artists
5. assisting professional artist in promotion and sales of their works
Location
MRAL's gallery, located in the historic village of Cannonsburgh, displays art creations by its members . It also serves as workshop, classroom, business office, social gathering place for members, and is a welcoming center to visitors to the city on special celebration days. The gallery is open to visitors from April to October.
